Why The Broxwood Collection Exists

Round Corten Steel Water Table - Tom's Yard

The idea for The Broxwood Collection actually began with a supplier letting us down. At the time, we were distributing a range of premium garden products that, despite having a very British image to the public, were largely manufactured overseas.

Then one day, a delayed shipment of components brought the supply chain to a halt. Customers were understandably frustrated when orders were delayed by more than a month – and it got Thomas thinking: why couldn't we make products like these closer to home?

Local Handmade Weathering Steel Planters - Tom's Yard

So... well - he started looking closer to home!

Thomas started speaking with people he already knew within the industry and discovered an extraordinary amount of skill and manufacturing capability almost on the doorstep of the Yard – metalworkers, fabricators, craftspeople and small workshops capable of making exceptional products right here in our corner of England.

Hand-Thrown English Terracotta Frilly Pot - Tom's Yard

That simple idea became The Broxwood Collection: a growing range of garden products made closer to home, with shorter supply chains, proper materials and a story behind where they came from.

Not because everything made overseas is inferior – far from it. We still travel far and wide to find products when we believe they're worth travelling for. But when something can be made brilliantly here, supporting skilled British businesses in the process, why wouldn't we make it here?

The Bottom Line

For us, The Broxwood Collection isn't about creating another expensive, overly polished range of ‘premium’, pretentious garden products.

It's about continuing what Thomas set out to do when he started Tom's Yard at 23: connecting garden lovers with fantastic products that are beautifully made, built to last and have a genuine story behind them.
