Installation

Our edging has been designed to make installation as straightforward as possible.

Each 2.4 metre section features welded steel rings at the joining points. Simply overlap the rings of adjoining sections before driving the supplied steel stake through them.

As the stake is driven into the ground, it simultaneously pulls the two sections together and anchors the edging into position, creating a neat connection without fiddly nuts and bolts.

Garden Designers, Landscapers & Commercial Projects

Working on something bigger?

We regularly supply garden designers, landscapers and commercial customers with garden products for projects throughout Britain.

Our 6mm heavy-duty Corten edging is particularly suited to larger landscape schemes, while the 3mm range provides an excellent solution for residential gardens and less demanding commercial applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best thickness for steel garden edging?

For most domestic gardens, 3mm steel edging provides an excellent balance of strength and versatility. It is suitable for defining lawns, planting beds, pathways and gravel areas.

Our 6mm Corten edging is a considerably heavier-duty option intended for larger or more demanding landscaping projects where greater rigidity is required.

What's the difference between Corten and galvanised garden edging?

The most noticeable difference is the finish.

Corten steel intentionally develops a warm rust-coloured weathered patina, whereas galvanised steel has a protective zinc coating and retains a silver-grey appearance.

Both make excellent garden edging, so the decision will often come down to the aesthetic you want to achieve.

Can steel edging be curved?

Yes. Our edging can be used to create both straight runs and curved borders.

The 3mm steel offers greater versatility for sweeping curves, while the substantial 6mm option is better suited to straighter runs and larger-radius curves.

  • 6mm thick edging can comfortably form a radius of 2500mm (2.5m)
  • 3mm thick edging can comfortably form a radius of 1000mm (1m)
How long is each piece of garden edging?

Each section measures 2.4 metres long.

Our 3mm edging has a minimum order of 9.6 linear metres, or four lengths, with additional edging ordered in multiples of 2.4 metres.

The 6mm heavy-duty Corten edging has a minimum order of 24 linear metres, or ten lengths.

What heights are available?

Our 3mm Corten edging is available in heights of:

75mm · 100mm · 150mm · 200mm · 250mm

Our 3mm galvanised and 6mm Corten edging are available in:

100mm · 150mm · 250mm

Are the installation stakes included?

Yes. Appropriately sized steel ground spikes are supplied with the edging.

How much of the edging should be buried?

As a general guide, we recommend installing approximately one third of the height below ground level to provide good stability.

The exact depth may vary depending on the ground conditions and the purpose of the edging.

Does Corten edging arrive already rusty?

Corten steel develops its characteristic weathered surface through exposure to the elements, so the appearance of newly manufactured edging may differ from the mature orange-brown finish shown in established garden photographs.

Its appearance will continue to develop naturally once installed outdoors.

Can I use steel edging between a lawn and gravel?

Absolutely. This is one of its most popular uses.

Steel edging creates a physical and visual separation between lawn, gravel, stone, planting and other landscaping materials, helping to create much cleaner lines throughout the garden.
