Questions
40 Years of Heritage
Brampton Willows was founded in the mid 80’s by Robert Yates. Initially, Robert began growing willow at his family home in Brampton, Suffolk, as an experimental crop to supply a local basket maker. Before long, he began weaving willow himself and established Brampton Willows, specialising in handcrafted garden products. The company also gained recognition for creating cross-country obstacles for prestigious international horse trials, including Badminton and Burghley.
Made To Order
All pieces are hand-made to order from 100% British grown willow. Due to the nature of the craft, please use all dimensions as a guide (there will be minor variations in the finished products) and use images an an example of colour. Willow, like every wood, has natural variations in colour.
Maintenance
When you choose a handmade willow product, you’re investing in natural, sustainable materials and traditional craftsmanship. With that comes the understanding that natural materials like willow require a little care to keep them at their best.
With the right maintenance, willow can remain beautiful and functional for around 20 years, so we’re here to support and guide you on the best practise.
Willow is a living material and, like all natural timbers, is affected by environmental elements. UV exposure from sunlight can dry it out, making it brittle over time, while excessive moisture can lead to decay. To help protect your willow, we recommend applying Linseed Oil regularly. This not only nourishes the material but also enhances its natural resilience.
It’s best to treat your willow twice a year, ensuring it’s completely dry before each application.
Important: Linseed Oil treatments should be done outdoors due to the strong odour. Allow treated furniture to cure fully before contact with clothing, as the oil can remain tacky for some time.
Delivery
Your items will be shipped directly from the workshop in Suffolk to your home address.

a meaningful alternative to mass-produced goods
Each piece is meticulously made in Suffolk using just a handful of natural materials and a steel frame to provide enhanced support (if required).
Willow is an incredible natural material that has been used for centuries and holds a special place in the UK’s cultural heritage. Not only is it beautiful and versatile, but also sustainable and renewable.
Willow’s wonderful natural qualities mean it requires virtually no processing before use. Freshly cut ‘green’ willow can be woven immediately, while dry-stored willow simply needs soaking in water to make it pliable before use.
