Broxwood Powder Coated Metal Trough Planters
Description
Our practical powder coated trough planters – British-made, heavy-duty and available in a huge choice of colours.
Part of our Broxwood Collection, bringing together exceptional garden products made by skilled workshops closer to home, our rectangular trough planters are handmade to order by professional fabricators.
Made from galvanised steel, each planter is cut, folded and hand-finished before being powder coated to create a long-lasting finish. Unlike ordinary steel, galvanised steel offers protection making these particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments while remaining surprisingly manageable for their size. The supplier also specifies a double-folded top lip and fully welded hidden seams for additional strength and a cleaner finish.
Choose Your Colour
This is where the range really comes into its own. Choose from a huge selection of powder coated finishes, allowing your planter to either quietly complement its surroundings or become an architectural feature in its own right.
Go classic with anthracite, black or muted green, coordinate the planters with doors, windows or existing garden furniture, or introduce a contrasting colour to make the planting really stand out.
The powder-coated finish is designed for outdoor use and provides a durable, low-maintenance surface with UV and frost protection.
Made for Planting
Every trough is supplied fully assembled with drainage holes as standard, ready to position and plant.
The long proportions work beautifully with ornamental grasses, lavender, clipped evergreens, hydrangeas and structural shrubs. They're also particularly effective for commercial and hospitality settings, where several troughs can be used to create attractive natural screening between seating areas, terraces and walkways.
Available in an extensive choice of standard dimensions, with bespoke sizes also available for larger residential, landscaping and commercial projects.
Clean, colourful and exceptionally versatile – a proper British-made trough planter that combines architectural simplicity with the freedom to choose a finish that works perfectly for your space.

Questions & Notes
How To Order
Simply let us know your preferred RAL colour number in the order notes at checkout. With 147 standard RAL colours available, there’s plenty of choice to find the perfect finish for your garden or project!
Choose from 147 RAL Colours
Our workshop can powder coat your planter in a huge choice of 147 colours, allowing you to choose a finish that works perfectly with your garden, property or wider landscaping scheme.
All of our colours are taken from the RAL Classic colour system. So, if you'd like to look up a particular shade online, already have a RAL colour chart, or would like to borrow one from us, simply refer to the RAL Classic K7 Colour Chart.
New to RAL colours?
RAL is a standardised colour-matching system widely used across manufacturing, architecture and design. Each colour has its own unique RAL reference number, making it much easier to accurately specify and match colours across different products and materials.
The complete RAL Classic collection contains 216 colours, including standard, metallic, pearlescent and fluorescent finishes. Our workshop offers the 147 standard RAL colours, excluding all specialist metallic, pearlescent and fluorescent finishes.
With everything from understated greys, greens and earthy tones to blues, reds and brighter statement colours, there's plenty of choice – whether you want your planters to quietly complement their surroundings or become a feature in their own right.

Thickness
As standard, planters supplied in the Powder Coated Range are made from a 2mm thick Electro Zinc Plated Mild Steel.
However, depending on your intended use - if you would like to order an item made from a thicker, more substantial steel (up to 6mm thick), then please get in touch and we can source a quotation.
We would suggest upgrading the thickness if you are:-
- Planting anything very heavy
- Located in a windy spot
- Are near the coast
- Planning on using these in a commercial setting
A heavier grade planter will put up with more wear-and-tear.
Maintenance & Notes
Maintenance
None! Unlike wooden or plastic alternatives no maintenance is required at all! All you need to do is fill, plant, and enjoy!
Notes
Whilst powder coating is an extremely durable and weather-resistant surface, it can be damaged by sharp objects. If the powder coating layer is penetrated as far as the raw steel by a deep scratch or scrape, water may get behind the powder coating and cause it to rust and flake away over time.
A deep scuff or a scratch on an otherwise pristine, sleek surface can look unsightly, and unlike ‘wet’ paints, powder coating cannot be repaired in situ.
Care should be taken when handling the planters in installation and during use so as to not damage the protective powder-coated finish. Any defects in the planters and powder coating should be notified within 24 hours from delivery.
Warranty
5 year manufacturer's structural warranty.
