Corten Steel Moongate Arch - 220cm Ring
Our Corten Steel Moongate is a striking architectural feature designed to introduce structure, depth and a strong focal point to an outdoor space.
Inspired by traditional circular moongates, its clean, contemporary form creates an inviting passageway that can be used to frame a garden view, define an entrance or connect separate areas of a landscape.
Manufactured in Britain from genuine Corten weathering steel, the ring develops a distinctive protective patina as it is exposed to the elements. Its appearance gradually evolves through warm orange, russet and deep brown tones, allowing it to contrast beautifully with green planting while complementing natural materials such as stone, timber and gravel. The weathered surface also helps protect the steel beneath, creating a durable feature that requires very little ongoing maintenance.
The moongate measures 2.2 metres in outside diameter, with an internal opening of approximately 2.1 metres. Its substantial hollow-box profile measures 15cm deep and 5cm wide, while a 6mm-thick mild-steel base provides additional strength and stability. These generous proportions produce an impressive sense of scale without overwhelming the surrounding garden.
Perfect for positioning across a pathway or within a border, the ring can be left as a bold standalone sculpture or softened with carefully selected climbing plants. Whether incorporated into a contemporary garden, a Japanese-inspired landscape or a more traditional planting scheme, this Corten Steel Moongate provides an elegant and enduring frame through which to experience the garden.
Our Moongates have been specifically designed for easy installation with several options for how you want the final structure to look. Each Moongate comes with a welded base plate which has laser-cut holes for fixing down to make it as simple as possible.
You can install the Moongate in 2 ways:
So the bottom of the ring is visible. – In this case, install a concrete pad at least 10mm (the thickness of the base plate) down from ground level so most of the ring is showing.
So the bottom of the ring disappears under the ground level. – In this case, install a concrete pad much lower than ground level to allow for the bottom of the ring to sit below ground level. This is ideal for when you want the Moongate to straddle a pathway.
Once the concrete pad is in place, simply use anchor bolts to fix the base plate to the pad.
