Corten Steel Bottomless Round Planters

Regular price £140.00

Size (D x H)
Description

A clever alternative to traditional planters, offering the visual impact of a raised container with the long-term growing benefits of planting directly into the ground.

Theese Bottomless Corten Steel Planters offer a simple yet highly effective way to introduce the beauty of Corten steel into the garden whilst allowing plants to establish naturally into the soil below. Available in a range of sizes, these elegant cylindrical planters create a striking visual feature without restricting root growth, making them ideal for larger shrubs, ornamental grasses and small trees.

Unlike conventional planters, the bottomless corten steel planter features an open-bottom design that allows roots to grow directly into the ground beneath. This encourages healthier, more vigorous plants, reduces the need for watering, and enables specimens to reach their full potential whilst still benefiting from the clean, contemporary appearance of a raised planter.

Each planter is handmade to order in Britain by skilled professional fabricators near Birmingham using premium-grade Corten steel. Built specifically for your order, these high-quality planters are typically delivered within 21 days. As the steel weathers, it develops a rich rust-coloured patina that protects the material and gives each planter its own unique character.

Supplied fully assembled and ready to position, they require no assembly whatsoever. Simply place yours in your chosen location, prepare the soil beneath, and plant directly through into the ground below.

Perfect for creating structure within borders, framing pathways, or highlighting specimen plants, the Hampton Bottomless Planter combines the practical benefits of open-ground planting with the timeless appeal of weathered Corten steel.

Questions

Free Delivery & Lead-Time

As standard, the lead time is approximately 3 to 4 weeks. But if you require a shorter lead time, please contact me and I will share your needs with the workshop.

Once the workshop have finished your order, it will be dispatched directly to your home.

All prices include associated delivery fees. Depending on the size of your order, larger quantities or larger-sized planters will be delivered via pallet courier, while smaller orders will be delivered through a parcel network.

Bespoke Sizes

None of the standard sizes suit your space? No problem.

The workshop are glad to offer a bespoke service where they can make any custom size you require.

Simply get in touch with your measurements and I'll get back to you with a quotation within 48 hours.

Thickness

As standard, all items supplied in the Corten Range are made from a 2mm thick, structural-grade steel.

However, depending on your intended use - if you would like to order an item made from a thicker, more substantial steel (up to 6mm thick), then please get in touch and I can source a quotation.

I would suggest upgrading the thickness if you are:-

  • Planting anything heavy
  • Located in a windy spot
  • Are near the coast
  • Planning on using these in a commercial setting

A heavier grade planter will always last longer.

Maintenance & Notes

Maintenance? None! Unlike wooden or plastic alternatives, which may require regular repairs and painting, all you need to do is fill, plant, and enjoy!

During the natural weathering process, your Corten steel planter may produce ‘runoff’ that could cause staining on the surface below. This risk is particularly high during the first three to six months of the weathering process. Keep an eye out if these needs washing off a new patio.

Please note that, once production has started, the workshop may not be able to accommodate changes to an order.

Once you have received your planter, please unpack it straight away. Planters left palletised or packaged may develop an uneven patina if exposed to moisture or rain.
