This beautiful antique green glazed jar is a wonderful example of traditional Chinese pottery, hand-thrown and finished with a rich celadon-green glaze that has mellowed beautifully over time. Originally made as a practical household vessel, it now offers the perfect blend of history, craftsmanship and decorative appeal.

The softly rounded form and beautifully weathered glaze make this pot equally at home in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Whether planted with a favourite houseplant or simply left as-is, it brings warmth, texture and character to any setting. The subtle variations in the glaze, together with the signs of its long working life, ensure that no modern reproduction can match its depth and authenticity.

There is a small historic hairline crack in the base. This is stable, and shows no evidence of deteriorating - nor impacting its current structural integrity.

Pallet Delivery

Orders of terracotta pots are typically fulfilled via a reliable, third-party kerbside pallet service. This operates Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

I aim for a 5–10 day turnaround from order to delivery, allowing time to carefully package your items, particularly during busy periods. In some cases, orders may be fast-tracked - so if you require your items urgently, please get in touch before placing your order.

This service covers all mainland England & Wales addresses... but deliveries to Scotland, Ireland, and offshore locations (Jersey, the Isle of Wight...) will require a quote due to additional surcharges.

The good news is that as I already absorb the standard delivery cost within my prices, any extra charges are often much less than you might expect.

Once your order is received, I will contact you to arrange a convenient delivery date. Orders are never dispatched without prior communication.

For more details on the pallet delivery process and any restrictions, please see this page.

Courier Service

For customers requiring a more helpful service, I also offer a personal delivery option. This is not kerbside, so as long as there are no access restrictions around your garden, I - or my go-to courier - aim to place your pots in-situ.

This is worked out on a quotation basis and covers customers on a nationwide basis. It is particularly popular with buyers placing substantial orders - or for those who may struggle to move pots delivered on a pallet.

Pot Care & Frost

Antique pots require a little more care than their modern, off-the-shelf counterparts. Traditionally, they were often made with thinner walls and fired in kilns that lacked the consistency and high temperatures of today’s gas-fired processes.

As a result, they are more susceptible to frost damage. For this reason, I recommend that antique pots are not left outside over winter. They are best kept indoors or placed under adequate shelter during the colder months to preserve their character and longevity.

Exclusive use inside the home is best.

Condition Disclaimer

Every antique pot offered by Tom's Yard has been personally sourced and selected by me for its character, quality and authenticity. As genuinely aged pieces, each one carries the marks of a life well lived.

You should expect to find the occasional scratch, scuff, chip, nibble, weathering and natural variation in colour, all of which are part of the pot's history and individual charm. These are not factory-made, 'off-the-shelf' products, and no two examples are ever exactly alike.

Where I consider any imperfection to be more significant (typically anything larger than a £2 coin), it will always be highlighted within the individual product description.

If you would like additional reassurance before purchasing, I am always happy to provide a detailed condition report, together with close-up photographs. Simply get in touch before placing your order. Though do note; around busy periods this may take up to a week to arrange.
