Raised Corten Steel Water Bowl
Description
Simple, elegant and surprisingly versatile, the Corten Steel Water Bowl is one of the easiest ways to introduce the calming effect of water into the garden.
Whether positioned as a standalone focal point on a patio, incorporated into a larger landscaping scheme, or paired with planting and decorative stone, the bowl's clean circular form creates a striking feature that looks beautiful throughout the year. The still water surface reflects the sky, surrounding plants and changing light conditions, bringing an extra sense of depth and tranquillity to the garden. Water bowls can also help attract birds and other wildlife, creating a more natural and dynamic outdoor space.
Handmade in Britain from heavy-duty Corten steel, each bowl is designed to withstand the elements for decades. Over time the steel develops its characteristic orange-brown patina, a natural protective layer that gives Corten steel its distinctive appearance whilst helping to protect the metal beneath. The result is a garden feature that becomes more attractive with age and requires very little maintenance.
Available in six standard sizes, from compact 600mm bowls through to impressive 2000mm statement pieces, there is an option suitable for everything from small courtyards and patios to large gardens, commercial landscapes and hospitality projects.
Installation couldn't be simpler. Just place the bowl on a firm, level surface and fill with water. No plumbing, pumps or electrical connections are required, allowing you to enjoy the visual impact of water without the complexity of a traditional pond or fountain.

How Long To Go Rusty?
My Corten products are dispatched in a raw steel finish as standard.

This process depends on factors such as weather, climate, your proximity to the coast (sea spray) etc...

Thickness
As standard, planters supplied in the Corten Range are made from a 2mm thick, structural-grade steel. Water features are generally upgraded to a thicker 3mm.
However, depending on your intended use - if you would like to order an item made from a thicker, more substantial steel (up to 6mm thick), then please get in touch and I can source a quotation.
I would suggest upgrading the thickness if you are:-
- Planting anything heavy
- Located in a windy spot
- Are near the coast
- Planning on using these in a commercial setting
A heavier grade planter will always last longer.
Maintenance & Notes
Maintenance
Corten steel requires no maintenance as the rusted patina it naturally forms acts as a protective barrier meaning there’s no need for painting or sealing. Depending on the environmental exposure, Corten steel’s lifespan can exceed 50 years thanks to its self-protecting rust layer, which is why it’s ideal for outdoor applications.
Notes
During the natural weathering process, your piece may produce ‘runoff’ that could cause staining on the surface below. This risk is particularly high during the first three to six months of the weathering process. Keep an eye out if these needs washing off a new patio.
Please note that, once production has started, the workshop may not be able to accommodate changes to an order.
Once you have received your planter or water feature, please unpack it straight away. Planters left palletised or packaged may develop an uneven patina if exposed to moisture or rain.
Warranty
5 year manufacturer's structural warranty.
What is Corten Steel?
Corten steel is highly durable and resistant to corrosion. It develops a unique rusty patina that enhances its look over time and this layer protects it further from changing weather conditions, making it ideal for outdoor structures.
