Before the madness of the Malvern Autumn Show, I have one final specialist plant sale of 2024... And what a venue to finish the season at.

On Sunday 22nd I'll be stalling alongside 20 other nurseries at Llanover House, near Abergavenny.

Entrance is £8pp and dogs are allowed on short leads. Sadly, due to inclines and a lack of firm paths, access for those in wheelchairs is not great.

A superb garden, the space has been featured on television and in numerous articles for its botanical richness. Successive generations of the family have continued to plant, particularly Robin Herbert, former President of the RHS, who used his knowledge and passion for trees notable for their autumnal hues, bright berries or interesting winter bark, to plant throughout the garden. Several of the trees are now National Champions, including a Quercus alba and Nyssa sinensis.

The Round garden, planted in 2009 to give 'maximum effect for minimum effort’ in the autumn, is a feast of colour, shapes and textures in September.

The deep herbaceous borders in the unusual circular walled garden, with a dovecote topped by a Pike, have been designed to complement the autumnal hues of gold, red and orange enhancing the berries, barks and falling leaves.
