Many of our Clients love Cretan terracotta pots due to their unique look and rich history. The history of pots in Crete can be traced back to the Minoan civilisation... now we're going as far back as 3000 BC!
The Minoan's traditionally used large open neck pots named Pithoi to store grains, oils and wines. The most famous of their grand palaces, Knossos, featured huge storage rooms capable of holding hundreds of these large pots.
Today, many of the pots thrown in Crete take characteristics from their ancient cousins. Although, we doubt that you will be using yours to store 200 litres of wine (if so, we won't judge!).
Following a record start to the year, now we are the other side of Spring, Thomas is taking the opportunity to have a thoroughly well deserved break before his next import arrives.
Tom's Yard will be closed for appointments from Monday 30th and we will return to the Yard from Monday 7th.
In this time, we will still be contactable and aim to carry on scheduling orders. We just need a break from moving pots!
Thank you for your support so far this year. We hope you are having a fantastic Summer.
